Job summary
Who We Are AdmitONE is not just a ticketing company, it’s an experience portal built by event and experience creators. This foundation, decades of industry knowledge and experience in promoting, venue management, ticketing, marketing, media relations and artist representation, allows AdmitONE to deliver customers positive, shareable experiences when discovering and purchasing tickets. Beyond the core functionality of selling tickets to events, our product roadmap includes everything from an integrated back-end dashboard to travel and DIY products, while ensuring we service 110% of the user and customer needs of today and tomorrow. Who You Are We’re hiring software engineers at multiple levels (Intermediate & Senior) to help shape and scale the systems behind AdmitONE, our multi-product ticketing platform. You’ll focus on building robust backend systems while taking ownership of features end to end, including the frontend work that ships with them. You’ll have a direct impact on how our products (Pro, Community and PoweredBy) perform, scale, and evolve, working on technology that supports live experiences from ticket purchase through in-venue operations. We work AI-first. We expect engineers here to be fluent with AI-assisted tools (like Cursor) and with prompt engineering as a real skill, and to hold AI-generated code to the same architectural, security, and performance bar as anything written by hand. We Hire at the Level You Interview At This posting is open to intermediate and seniors. We don’t ask you to pick a level when you apply. Here’s how it works: You apply once, to this posting. Our interview process is designed to assess the scope of problems you can own, your technical depth, and how you operate with other engineers. After your interviews, we place you at the level of your performance and experience support, and we make an offer within that level’s published band. We do this because titles are inconsistent across companies and years of experience is a weak proxy for capability. We’d rather see what you can do and level accordingly. If you’re unsure whether you’re in range, apply. (That’s the point of doing it this way!) If you’re targeting a specific level, tell our recruitment team early and we’ll be direct with you about what we’re seeing as the process goes. Levels and Compensation Software Engineer (Intermediate) ~3+ years professional experience $85,000 to $105,000 Senior Software Engineer ~5+ years professional experience $100,000 to $130,000 All levels are eligible for performance-based incentives. Experience guides are reference points, not gates. We level on demonstrated scope and autonomy, not tenure. What You’ll Do These apply at every level. What changes with level is the size and ambiguity of the problems you take on, and how much you shape the work of others. Build and ship end to end. Develop high-performance backend services and scalable APIs, and contribute to the frontend to deliver complete, production-ready features. Own the full lifecycle. Write the code, refine the AI-assisted prompts behind it, configure CI/CD pipelines, and execute safe rollouts. Engineer for quality. Write and maintain automated test suites (unit, API, E2E) and do exploratory testing to catch the edge cases that AI-generated implementations tend to hide. Manage infrastructure. Handle infrastructure-as-code changes, secrets management, and environment configuration so services are cloud-native and secure. Operate what you build. Monitor system health through structured logging and metrics, take part in on-call rotations, triage incidents, and ship lasting code-level fixes. At senior levels, you’ll additionally: Assist our Staff Engineer in setting the technical direction on features and services that span multiple systems, and make the tradeoff calls that come with that. Raise the bar through rigorous peer review and mentorship of other engineers where required Take on the cross-cutting problems: migrations, performance and cost work, platform implementations that outlive a single feature. Our Technical Stack Backend: Golang, Node.js API: GraphQL and RESTful Frontend: React-based frameworks (Next.js, Vite) Mobile: React Native Databases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL (Supabase) Cloud and hosting: AWS, Vercel, Cloudflare Tooling: GitHub Actions, AI-assisted development (Cursor, LLM workflows) You don’t need every item on this list. You do need to be somewhere on it, and be the kind of engineer who picks up the rest. What We’re Looking For Required at every level Backend fundamentals. Proficiency in Go, Node.js (Express/NestJS), Python, or Java, with a solid grasp of concurrency, retries, and async processing. Data and API design. Hands-on experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB), and building well-documented REST or GraphQL APIs. Web fundamentals. Ability to build and maintain modern UIs with React (Next.js/Vite) and a component library like Tailwind or MUI. AI-assisted workflows. Comfort using AI coding tools (e.g. Cursor) and prompt engineering to move faster, without lowering the bar on security or performance. Practical testing. Writing automated tests at multiple levels (unit, API/integration, and E2E with Playwright or Cypress) so features are verifiable and safe to ship. Delivery. Working knowledge of build and release pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions) and managing environment configuration and secrets. Education or equivalent experience. A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience. We care about what you can do. Expected at senior End-to-end execution. A track record of owning features from technical approach through development, testing, and deployment, making sound tradeoffs that sit well within existing systems. Cloud and infrastructure (AWS). Provisioning core services (Lambda, S3, SQS, IAM) with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, or SAM), and Docker. Observability and operations. Production monitoring and log aggregation (e.g. CloudWatch) to triage incidents and find performance and reliability wins. Nice to Have At any level, these stand out: Search: Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or comparable search and indexing systems. Database migrations: Planning and executing migrations and data backfills, including NoSQL-to-SQL, SQL-to-NoSQL, or hybrid patterns, while minimising downtime and preserving data integrity. Messaging and streaming: Kafka, Kinesis, or similar (beyond queues alone). Security and compliance: OWASP Top 10, and security observability (Sentry, AWS WAF, Vercel Firewall) for anomaly detection, threat mitigation, and regulatory compliance. Performance and load testing: Profiling, load or stress testing (k6, JMeter, or similar), and cost/performance tuning of cloud workloads. What’s In It For You Competitive compensation, including base salary, vacation package and performance-based incentives. Real growth in a dynamic, fast-paced organization, with a clear picture of what the next level requires. A collaborative culture that celebrates creativity and innovation. Access to unique experiences across The MRG Group’s diverse portfolio of pubs, clubs, and live music venues. A salary range is provided; final compensation offer will be determined based on experience, skills, and alignment with the role. Please note this is an on-site position, based in our Toronto HQ.
