Job summary

The Day Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean and appealing public and guest areas according to policy and brand standards. Major Duties and Responsibilities POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position will be responsible for * The day-to-day maintenance of all public areas of the hotel including lobby, all public & banquet area washrooms, carpet and upholstery cleaning, window cleaning, brass on elevators and public areas, food & beverage outlets and special projects as assigned. * Maintain cleanliness of all Guest Bedroom floors / meeting areas, to include vending areas, Ice & vending machine (ice, candy, pop) elevator landings, corridors, stairwell landings. * Maintain Signature Club Lounge area as required & requested. * Maintain cleanliness of all administration office areas, Guest Business Centre area * Maintain cleanliness of Food & Beverage Outlet areas (before and after meal periods) , to include employee staff cafeteria, * Maintain all entrance areas & mats (winter & summer procedures vary) * Part of the Emergency response team * Special tasks as assigned by Supervisor * Report maintenance deficiencies * Be security cognizant of your surroundings & Guests * Any other duties assigned by Supervisors. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: * Completion of High School Education or equivalent; * Knowledge on how to properly use and maintain cleaning equipment; i.e. vacuums, floor burnishers, shop vac., dispensing equipment, * Knowledge of chemical usage and safety; * WHMIS training required * Fire & Safety Training required * Previous hotel experiences an asset; * Must be able to take direction and work with minimum supervision; * Good customer service and communication skills; * Must have a pleasant, outgoing personality; * Must be honest, reliable and dependable and practice good hygiene; * Must be a team orientated individual with good interactive skill. * Must demonstrate behavior consistent with core values. * Able to handle a quick paced environment * Attentive, alert, attention to detail required * Proper key control & handling required Minimum Qualifications and Skills * High school graduate or equivalent. * Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. * Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests visiting the workplace. Mental Effort * Mental effort required in multi-tasking and handling interruptions that require refocusing. * Listening and mental attentiveness in tasks assigned by Housekeeping Manager. Physical Effort * Some heavy lifting required. * Standing for long periods of time. Working Conditions * Use of cleaning chemicals Type of Supervision Required Reports to the Housekeeping Manager. Works under general instructions to prioritize and complete assigned tasks.
