Job Summary The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for provisions of direct patient services, including diagnosis, consultation, assessment, and treatment. The incumbent is also responsible for participation in departmental/community programs and hospital wide programs associated with the professional services. The Speech Language Pathologist complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations. Qualifications / Education Minimum Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent. Relevant internship/placement education experience. Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario required. Demonstrates current knowledge of clinical practice and procedures in speech language. Ability to conduct Modified Barium Swallow Studies an asset. Good oral communication skills. Good organizational skills. Demonstrate expertise in facilitating various modes of service delivery for treatment (individual and group) Commitment to standards of excellence and the concept of accountability within the established professional standards of professional practice and the organization. Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. General good health and a level of fitness appropriate to the demands of the position. Requirements
A minimum master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent, relevant internship or placement experience, and current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario are required. Candidates should have current clinical knowledge, strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to provide individual and group treatment, and the ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team; Modified Barium Swallow Study experience and French language skills are assets.
