Union: ONA PMH New or Replacement Role: Replacement Number of Vacancies: 1 Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Department: 15A Inpatient Leukemia Reports to: Nurse Manager Wage Range: $41.15 - $58.98 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable) Hours: 22.5 hours per week Shifts: Days & Nights, Weekends, Holidays 12 hours shifts Status: Temporary Part-Time (1 year contract) As a member of the interdisciplinary Team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care, while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. 15A Leukemia unit is a 17th bed nursing unit with skilled oncology nurses working in a team model approach caring for newly diagnosed Leukemia patients. The team members are able to build therapeutic relationships with patients and families during their length of stay which averages about 1 month. The team members are positive and passionate about achieving best patient care outcomes by advocating for safety. The unit has a dedicated Advance Practice Nurse Educators and Patient Care Coordinator shared within the Leukemia program to support nursing and the multidisciplinary team members. There are educational opportunities available for all staff to enhance their knowledge and skill.Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN. Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure. Demonstrating commitment to professional life long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession. Performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care. Performing cross-functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/or requested. Requirements

Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification are required. Candidates should be flexible, able to meet the physical demands of the role, and have strong teamwork, communication, decision-making, organizational, time-management, and computer skills; a BScN degree is preferred.
