Categories: Service Location(s): Owen Sound Types: Casual DEPARTMENT: OUTPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE STATUS: CASUAL WAGE RATE: $37.071 – $38.157 Reporting to the Outpatient Mental Health Services Manager, the Sexual Assault and Partner Abuse 24/7 team Registered Practical Nurse participates on an on-call team that provides specialized treatment, psychosocial care, legal information, and related crisis counseling to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence (intimate partner abuse). Qualifications Required: Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Able to commit to a minimum of two years as part of the SA&PACC 24/7 team (5 shifts per month) 1-2 years of Nursing experience (minimum) Medication certification and ability to practice Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Ability to work independently and as part of a team Well developed critical thinking and problem solving skills Demonstrated realization of continuous learning professionally and personally Proficiency in physical assessment of adult patients Skills in physical assessment of paediatric patients and/or willingness to learn Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other members of the health care team Demonstrated approach to others that is non-judgmental and supportive Understanding of the current issues and challenges in providing care to sexual and domestic violence victims Knowledgeable and proficient with the skills required to educate adults Sound comprehension of the CNO guidelines on scope of practice and their application Established skills in self-care Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records Demonstrate, promote and encourage Brightshores’ values – We Show Up for Each Other, We Are Trusted to Act, We Create Solutions Together, We Strive for Better, We Share Accountability Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes Comply with all applicable health and safety policies, procedures and regulations, and actively contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment

Requirements

Requires current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, medication certification, and at least 1–2 years of nursing experience. Candidates must commit to at least two years on the team and five shifts per month, and demonstrate assessment, communication, critical-thinking, teamwork, patient education, and self-care skills.
