THE POSITION The CGY Crew will provide active opportunities to schools and students by joining a team that will deliver sports programming in schools. The CGY Crew is responsible for working with administrators in schools to provide the highest level of instruction in ball hockey and flag football that engages students, promotes fun and teamwork, and enhances their knowledge of and appreciation for sport and movement. The successful candidates will be visiting Calgary and surrounding schools to teach students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 how to play floor hockey and flag football. In addition, the successful candidates will also act as brand ambassadors at community events when available. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES * Responsible for guiding and inspiring students while fostering a positive, fun and safe environment. * Leading youth sports lessons following CGY guidelines. This includes setting up and taking down equipment as needed. * Teaching sports-related rules, techniques, and procedures is a key part of your role. * Managing safety requirements in a classroom setting. * Act as a brand ambassador. * Actively participate in our CSEC safety program. * All other duties as assigned. THE INDIVIDUAL The ideal individual will have the following background: * Police check and vulnerable section check required. * First AID and CPR required. * Must be available to work a minimum of 20 school visits around the city during school hours. These visits take place during the day between Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm, September to May. * Must have access to a vehicle as travel around the City is required. Gas expense is included in wage. * Must possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. * Positive attitude with an ability to create an environment of excitement and fun. * Previous experience working with students and youth is an asset. * Willingness to learn and teach youth and students. * Ability to work with youth of all ages and abilities * Experience playing football and/or hockey at any level is a benefit. * Knowledge of the Calgary Flames, Hitmen, Wranglers, Roughnecks and Stampeders is an asset.
