This role ensures a smooth transition back to the workplace by coordinating accommodations, modified duties, and rehabilitation plans in collaboration with employees, managers, healthcare providers, and insurance carriers. The successful candidate will thrive in a structured environment that requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to navigate complex systems and legislation, consistent application of established processes, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning. PLEASE NOTE: This position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, to be worked Monday through Friday during regular business hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with specific scheduling and availability coordinated with the role’s manager. This role is ideal for an experienced professional seeking meaningful, impactful work with a predictable part-time schedule. As the organization continues to grow, there may be opportunities for the position to evolve into a full-time role. MEDICAL AND RTW COMMUNICATION & ENGAGEMENT Works with the HSE Manager, reviews and communicates with Leaves of Absences (LOA), Medical (101) and work-related illness and injury (102) workers to determine suitable Return to Work (RTW) options. Communicates regularly with employees, healthcare professionals, and workplace stakeholders with empathy and clarity. The service standard for this item is every 6-8 weeks or at the HSE Manager’s request. Assesses and manages case files relating to employee absences from intake to resolution. Support return-to-work planning based on medical and non-medical conditions, functional abilities and fitness to return-to-work. Provides support techniques to aid employees during times of challenging mental and physical health. Uses data and analytics to make informed decisions and identify trends in recovery and return-to-work outcomes. Builds strong, trust-based relationships with commissionaires, operations managers and healthcare providers. Provides data based reporting to the organization as requested. Maintains accurate and confidential case documentation. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY ADMINISTRATION Assists with the administration of the CNS Health and Safety Program. Assists with employee safety, wellness and successful return-to-work. Assists with administrative functions and reporting. Education and Knowledge Education: (Minimum Required): A diploma or degree is desirable or an acceptable equivalent of education and experience. Certifications: Government of Canada Secret-level security clearance. Valid Nova Scotia driver's license Skills and Abilities: (Minimum Required) Demonstrated ability to learn complex workflows, legislation, policies, and technology platforms is essential. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and identify inconsistencies in documentation, reports, and case files. Ability to effectively prioritize multiple and shifting requirements. Demonstrated ability to interpret and consistently follow established policies, procedures, and work instructions. Resourceful and self-directed in locating information and using available tools, references and training resources to resolve issues and complete work assignments. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly resilient and adaptable in fast-paced, emotionally complex situations. Self-starter and independent worker. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to learn and navigate complex case management, HR, and reporting systems. Strong interpersonal skills and able to work effectively as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong crisis intervention and emotional intelligence. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. A collaborative, team-first mindset. Superior client service skills. Professional/Technical Knowledge: Strong MS Office and computer aptitude skills are required, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Share Point. Understanding of the Nova Scotia Labour Standards Code, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Act, Workers' Compensation Act.

Requirements

A diploma or degree is desirable, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience; a Government of Canada Secret-level security clearance and valid Nova Scotia driver's license are required. Candidates need strong attention to detail, communication, analytical, organizational, and confidentiality skills, computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and an understanding of relevant Nova Scotia employment, human rights, occupational health and safety, and workers' compensation legislation.
