ABOUT THE POSITION The Palace is looking for a bar assistant to fill out their team on a part-time permanent basis. The bar assistant is responsible for several key functions in the successful operation of the restaurant bar, including preparing ice, garnishes, and syrups, stocking the bar, and ensuring the bartenders are set up for service. If you enjoy a fast-paced professional work environment, are flexible, and are looking to gain service experience, this is the job for you. Late nights are required. WHAT YOU'LL GET * * Hourly Wage: $15.00 * Gratuities * Extended health benefits after 90 days for employees working 28+ hours per week * 25% Company-wide food & beverage discount & access to frequent local business discounts/specials WHAT YOU'LL DO * * Remove used glasses, cans, etc. from tables after patrons are finished. * Assist bar staff in setting up and tearing down the bar including weighing bottles, filling ice wells, refilling cups, cleaning all surfaces and floors. * Help maintain cleanliness and order of all venue surfaces. * Assist staff in maintaining and stocking supplies including but not limited to: retrieving ice and clearing tables. * Help servers with any table set up when needed to ensure guests have a smooth dining experience. * Assist bartenders with maintaining and stocking all areas of the bar. * Able to lift 25lbs. Bringing cases of beer & liquor up stairs. * Rearranging furniture as needed by specific events. * Efficiently clearing and cleaning tables to facilitate efficient guest turnover. * Be ready and willing to provide support as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the venue. * Assist with moving furniture and setting up venue based on event needs. * Execute any other tasks required. WHAT YOU HAVE * * Previous restaurant experience is preferred. * Strong communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with employees, partners, vendors, and customers. * Well organized with a strong attention to detail and exceptional time management * Ability to fluently communicate in both written and verbal English * Must have a basic knowledge of the dining room, service procedures and functions. * Possesses basic math skills, can handle money, and operate a point-of-sale system. * Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations. * Pro Serve Certification required but can be obtained within 30 days of joining. * WHMIS Certification is required but can be obtained once hired. * Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours). * Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds. * Must be over 18 as alcohol service and open scheduling availability is a requirement.
