The location in Port Alberni, BC, is seeking talent to fill the position of Technical Specialist. This job is full-time and permanent.Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Responsible for continually looking at ways to improve quality and operations. Identify areas that need process control optimization. Evaluating the efficiency of manufacturing technologies, instruments, equipment, and tools. Driving process control innovation in collaboration with senior management. Is responsible for driving the process of machine optimization and will work as a member of a team to provide continuous improvement. Keeping process control within budget without compromising quality and efficiency. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Documenting processes and preparing progress reports. This position also provides technical support for the daily operation of the mill. New product development/grade specification. Key Skills: Ability to understand requirements and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Proficiency in project management. Extensive pulp and paper specific process knowledge. Ability to prioritize, make sound decisions, and resolve issues efficiently and effectively. Proven analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal, leadership and time management skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the company. Required Qualifications: Chemical engineering degree or diploma At least 3 years’ experience in control process engineering or related industry. Paper machine knowledge is an asset Salary $100,000 - $115,000 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity).
