Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Surgery $30–40/hr based on experience + up to $5,000 signing bonus Full-time opportunity in Langley, British Columbia at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Fraser Valley Schedule: Full-time, permanent - anticipated four 10-hour shifts on weekday days, with occasional ER shifts (potentially including nights, stats, and weekends) As a Surgery RVT at Animal Emergency Clinic of Fraser Valley (AECFV), you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and the well-being of our patients. You'll work alongside a skilled and collaborative team in a fast-paced, high-quality care environment. In your day-to-day, you will: Conduct pre-surgical examinations and obtain medical histories Administer pre-anesthetic medications and monitor patient responses Insert and manage IV catheters for fluid therapy and medication administration Sterilize and prepare surgical instruments and equipment Assist with tissue handling, retraction, and other intraoperative tasks as directed Adjust anesthesia levels and administer additional medications as needed Provide postoperative care, including pain management and wound care Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected and ready for the next procedure Counsel clients on postoperative care instructions and provide patient updates Accurately document all aspects of the surgical procedure, including anesthesia records, patient monitoring data, and postoperative care Help mentor visiting practicum students and peers Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture What You Bring Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) with surgical experience Proficient in anesthesia administration and monitoring, including mathematical calculations for drug doses and CRIs Strong technical skills and attention to detail, dedicated to excellent patient care Committed to maintaining professional registration and continuing education Strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills Accurate, organized, flexible, and able to take initiative Physically able to meet the demands of the role: holding or carrying weight for extended periods, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and lifting A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care Perks & Benefits Pay: $30–40/hr based on experience Evening and overnight shift premiums if applicable Bonuses: Up to $5,000 signing bonus Relocation assistance may be available for full-time candidates Benefits: Extended health, dental, and vision coverage RRSP matching program Annual health and wellness allowance Employee Assistance Program Continuing education allowance plus paid conference days Paid licensing and membership dues Paid vacation, sick days, and bereavement leave Uniform allowance Generous staff discounts on services, products, and pet facilities Company events and a fun team atmosphere Location Highlight Langley, British Columbia sits in the heart of the Fraser Valley, about 45 minutes from Vancouver.
