Director of Construction Location: Woodstock, ON Salary: $190K–$230K + benefits Position: Full-Time, Permanent Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Construction to provide strategic and operational leadership across its General Contracting Division. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone with a strong General Contracting background who has experience overseeing Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Superintendents/Field Operations, and multiple concurrent projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery, financial performance, risk management, team development, and operational improvement. Key Responsibilities Provide senior leadership and strategic direction for all construction operations. Oversee and mentor Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Field Operations leadership. Monitor projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring performance across safety, quality, schedule, and budget. Establish accountability, KPIs, performance standards, and operational procedures across the division. Oversee budget forecasting, cost tracking, project financial performance, and cost-to-complete reporting. Identify and mitigate operational, contractual, and project-level risks. Review schedules, resource requirements, project forecasts, change orders, and claims. Lead the resolution of major disputes, delays, and high-risk project issues. Support preconstruction, estimating, business development, proposals, and project planning. Build and develop high-performing teams while identifying future leadership talent. Collaborate with Estimating, Preconstruction, Safety, HR, Finance, and other internal teams. Maintain strong relationships with major clients, consultants, and project partners. Drive continuous improvement and the adoption of construction technologies and digital tools. Prepare regular operational and performance reports for senior leadership. Develop workforce and succession plans to support future project growth. Required Experience Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. 15+ years of progressive construction experience, including at least 7 years in senior leadership. Proven experience overseeing both field and project management teams within a General Contracting environment. Strong knowledge of Lump Sum, Construction Management, and Design-Build delivery models. Strong expertise in scheduling, project forecasting, risk management, cost control, and dispute resolution. Knowledge of Ontario construction law, OHSA, contracts, change orders, and permitting. Experience with construction management systems such as Procore, Viewpoint Vista, and scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera. Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-management skills. Valid G Driver’s License and ability to travel to project sites across Ontario as required.

Requirements

Candidates need General Contracting experience overseeing field and project management teams, knowledge of delivery models and Ontario construction requirements, proficiency with construction and scheduling systems, and a valid G driver’s license.
