Data Architect, Enterprise Data Management Job Type: 6 month contract (strong potential for extension) Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 3 days onsite) Hourly Rate: $90-100/hr INC Your New Company Our client is a leading Canadian financial services organization undergoing a significant enterprise data transformation. As part of its modernization journey, the organization is investing heavily in data architecture, governance, cloud-based platforms, and enterprise analytics to create a scalable, secure, and business-driven data ecosystem. This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role in shaping the future state of enterprise data management and architecture. Your New Role As the Data Architect, Enterprise Data Management, you will be responsible for modernizing the organization's enterprise data and data platform architecture. You will establish data architecture principles, standards, policies, and best practices while driving strategic architecture decisions that support enterprise reporting, analytics, governance, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with business stakeholders, technology teams, data governance, and delivery teams to ensure enterprise-wide adherence to data architecture standards and maintain the integrity, quality, and accessibility of critical business data. Key responsibilities include: Leading enterprise data architecture and design decisions supporting modern data platforms and data pipeline modernization initiatives. Contributing to and refining the enterprise data roadmap. Designing scalable data models that support reporting, analytics, business intelligence, and data science use cases. Facilitating requirements-gathering sessions with business stakeholders and translating business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Creating ERDs, data flow diagrams, metadata documentation, and architecture artefacts. Partnering with data governance teams to implement data governance frameworks, data quality controls, and stewardship practices. Driving the evolution of cloud-based data platform architecture and identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies. Establishing architecture standards, patterns, and reusable best practices across enterprise data environments. Supporting data platform automation initiatives and non-functional architecture requirements. Providing leadership and guidance on enterprise data warehouse enhancements, support, and continuous improvement initiatives. What You'll Need to Succeed Post-secondary degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. 10+ years of experience designing, architecting, and implementing large-scale enterprise data platforms, data warehouses, and analytical solutions. Strong experience developing scalable enterprise data models supporting diverse consumer groups including BI developers, analysts, and data scientists. Proven expertise integrating multiple data sources into centralized enterprise data platforms or enterprise data warehouses. Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and complex data formats including XML and JSON. Strong understanding of enterprise reporting and analytics requirements. Experience supporting BI solutions such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, documentation, and presentation skills. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Azure data technologies including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse. Experience establishing enterprise data governance policies related to data quality, privacy, security, profiling, and metadata management. Strong SQL development skills, including stored procedures and secure coding practices. Experience building data quality and data cleansing frameworks. Experience supporting enterprise data migration and transformation initiatives. Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification. Experience with CMMI Data Maturity Model. Experience working within Agile and Waterfall delivery environments. Project, programme, or portfolio management experience. Familiarity with ITIL and IT service management best practices. Previous experience within banking, financial services, or regulated industries. Experience supporting AIRB-related initiatives. Experience working with Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
