About the role
Athabasca University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is recruiting to the position of Academic Coordinator, Psychology.
This is a part-time (0.2FTE) term position ending November 1, 2027.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest Faculty in Athabasca University and offers a wide range of online courses and programs in the areas of education, humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and social sciences.

The Position:
TheCoordinatorwillbe responsible foroverseeing the teaching,administrationand maintenance of Athabasca University'sPSYC 304 (Research Methods in Psychology), PSYC 379 (Social Psychology), PSYC 315 (Psychology and the Mass Media),PSYC 340 (Applied Social Psychology),and PSYC 432 (Psychology and the Built Environment).OtherCoordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors (who teach and markstudentassignments), the handling of student issues as they are brought forward by students, tutors, or the institution (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests,accommodations for students with disabilities), and service to the Centre forSocial Sciences(e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences).
Qualifications:
Athabasca University is hiring an academic coordinator withexpertiseinPsychology with a strong background inresearch methods and experimental social psychology.A minimum of aMaster's degree inPsychologyisrequired; a PhD is preferred. Experience in distanceand onlinelearning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies would also be preferred assets.
Preference will be given to candidates who havepreviousexperience in coordinating courses and who are familiar with the various systems at AU.
