Position Summary:
The Stores Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining inventory of materials, parts, tools, and components used in manufacturing and maintenance operations. This role ensures materials are available in the correct quantity, condition, and location to support uninterrupted production and maintenance activities.
The Stores Clerk is expected to perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by the Assistant Manager and/or Manager.
*Position Responsibilities: *
Receiving and Sorting
- Verify ALL incoming materials and components against purchase orders and packing slips
- Sort, label, and identify parts with ACI numbers
- Provide receiving documentation to the MRO Buyer for system processing
- Receive deliveries at the Stores receiving door and place items into the Stores Crib or Stock Locations
Storing and Organizing
- Store materials in an organized, safe, and accessible manner
- Create and maintain stock locations as required
- Determine proper storage methods based on turnover rates, environmental factors (SDS/MSDS), and facility capabilities
Inventory Management ? Cycle Counts
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including quantities, locations, and conditions, using both manual and computerized systems
- Perform continuous cycle counting and ensure inventory is accurately entered in all systems
- Track tools, supplies, and materials to ensure availability
- Advise and correct (if required) items with zero inventory level
- *Inventory management skills: *Tracking and managing inventory levels, identifying shortages, and replenishing stock .
- Record-keeping skills: Maintaining accurate records of all transactions.
- Communication skills: Interacting with internal users and other departments.
- Problem-solving skills: Addressing issues related to inventory, quality, or safety.
- Technical skills: Using inventory management software and equipment.
Issuing Materials
- Fulfill internal material requests following established procedures
- Deliver materials to the requested production line, maintenance team, or project
- Kitting for Maintenance WO?s as required
Replenishment
- Monitor stock levels and identify shortages
- Communicate replenishment needs to the MRO Buyer
- Use communication boards during off?shifts to report inventory findings
Quality Control
- Ensure materials meet required quality standards
- Store materials in a manner that prevents damage, contamination, or spoilage
Additional Responsibilities:
Internal Customer Service
- Assist internal departments with material requests, inquiries, and item location within Stores
Inventory Control & Optimization
- Identify surplus, obsolete, damaged, or defective inventory and recommend disposal
- Investigate alternative products or suppliers to support cost reduction initiatives
- Compile and review data from contracts, purchase orders, and requisitions to assess supply needs
- Confer with engineering, purchasing personnel, and vendors regarding stock availability
Job Preparation
- Prepare kits for production lines, maintenance jobs, PMs, projects, and plant shutdowns
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are stored and handled safely
- Clean and maintain storage areas, tools, and equipment to meet safety standards
- Participate in mandatory inventory events (twice per year)
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and hazard?free work area
- Sweep and mop twice weekly
- Empty garbage and recycling daily
- Clean desks daily and maintain walkways, stairs, and floors
