Job ID: 26-20954 Job Title: Senior Software Developer Location: Toronto, ON/Onsite Duration: 125 Business Days with possible extension Client: Public Sector Pay Rate: CAD $85 - $90 per hour
Must have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 10+ years of experience designing, architecting, developing, and supporting large-scale enterprise applications using Microsoft technologies Extensive hands-on experience with ASP.NET, ASP.NET Web API/REST API, .NET Framework 4.8.1, .NET 5, C#, and VB.NET Strong experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs, web services, and implementing service-oriented architectures Hands-on experience with front-end development using Angular, Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML, and XML Strong SQL Server development experience, including writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, database design, and performance optimization Experience using Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, or similar API design and documentation tools Hands-on experience with Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Team Foundation Server (TFS), source control, and CI/CD practices Experience developing applications using Microsoft technologies such as Entity Framework, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), MS Web Services, Enterprise Library, and MS Sync Framework Strong experience performing application analysis, solution design, coding, unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, implementation, deployment, and production support Experience preparing technical specifications, software architecture documentation, UML diagrams, prototypes, and system design artifacts Experience working in both Agile/Scrum and traditional Waterfall software development methodologies Excellent analytical, communication, leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to guide development teams and provide technical direction Previous experience working with Ontario Public Sector (OPS) or other Public Sector organizations is considered a strong asset Experience supporting Criminal Justice, Case Management, or Ministry applications such as SCOPE/e-Library is considered an asset.
Role and Responsibilities: Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Microsoft .NET technologies while ensuring high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions Translate business requirements and functional specifications into technical designs, detailed programming specifications, and fully tested application components Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, ASP.NET Web API services, and system integrations with internal and external enterprise applications Design and develop user interfaces, business logic, authentication modules, database components, and application services using C#, VB.NET, Angular, Vue.js, and SQL Server Prepare software architecture documentation, technical specifications, UML diagrams, use cases, component diagrams, deployment documentation, and implementation guides Perform application analysis, coding, unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, performance tuning, defect resolution, and production support activities Participate in solution architecture discussions, application design sessions, code reviews, JAD sessions, and technical walkthroughs with project teams and business stakeholders Support Agile/Scrum delivery by participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, release planning, and Azure DevOps work item management Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer while supporting the organization's transition from Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) to Azure DevOps and Agile development practices Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA teams, Project Managers, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise software solutions aligned with business objectives Develop deployment packages, implementation documentation, installation guides, and production rollout plans while ensuring compliance with OPS architecture, security, and development standards Provide ongoing application maintenance, change management, incident resolution, and production support for mission-critical enterprise systems while ensuring complete technical documentation and knowledge transfer throughout the project lifecycle.
