Oxford Learning West Vancouver is looking for a positive, patient, and enthusiastic Elementary Reading, Writing & Math Tutor to join our team. This is a great opportunity for university students, recent graduates, education students, experienced tutors, and educators who enjoy working with children. Teaching Certification Is Not Required. About the Role You'll work with elementary-aged students in a supportive small-group environment, typically working with up to three students at a time. Students follow individualized Oxford Learning programs designed to strengthen their academic skills, confidence, and independence. Depending on student needs, you'll help with areas such as: Reading and phonics Reading comprehension Vocabulary Grammar Sentence and paragraph writing Spelling Elementary math Study and learning skills All programming and teaching materials are provided, so there is no lesson planning required. What We're Looking For We're Looking For Someone Who Genuinely enjoys working with children Is warm, patient, positive, and encouraging Has strong English communication skills Is comfortable with elementary reading, writing, and math Can explain concepts clearly and in different ways Is dependable and punctual Is willing to learn and receive feedback Is currently completing or has completed post-secondary education Can commit to a consistent weekly schedule throughout the school year Previous experience tutoring, teaching, coaching, mentoring, babysitting, working at camps, or otherwise working with children is an asset. Formal Classroom Teaching Experience Is Not Required. What We Offer Job Type: Part-Time Salary: $22 – $30 / hour, depending on qualifications, experience, subjects, and availability Consistent weekly hours All teaching materials and programming provided No lesson planning Training in the Oxford Learning teaching approach Ongoing support and coaching Small-group teaching A welcoming and supportive team Convenient Marine Drive location accessible by public transit No relocation packages available Location This Is An In-person Position At Oxford Learning West Vancouver 202-1760 Marine Drive, Vancouver, BC Schedule We are currently looking for candidates who can consistently work at least 2 days per week. Weekday shifts: approximately 3:30PM–6:30 PM Saturday shifts: also available Consistent availability throughout the school year is strongly preferred.
