Role Overview Joining the Engineering Department, the Senior Software Developer, Data is a senior individual contributor who will own and elevate the core systems and infrastructure that the Data team relies on to operate effectively. Reporting to the Team Lead, Data, your core mission is to manage data infrastructure as code, automate workflows, and build a platform foundation that enables the team to deliver reliable data products into Snowflake without operational friction. In your first 6–12 months, you will make an immediate impact by establishing scalable quality frameworks, developer tools, and observability pipelines that accelerate the entire engineering org. Main Responsibilities Build developer tooling: Create and maintain internal CLIs, automation scripts, observability dashboards, and productivity tools for the data team. Manage infrastructure as code: Define and provision Snowflake infrastructure via Terraform, managing access controls, resource monitors, and performance tuning. Own data quality frameworks: Build frameworks for testing, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data freshness, completeness, and correctness across pipelines. Automate CI/CD workflows: Establish robust CI/CD deployment pipelines for dbt models, schema validation, and automated testing. Enhance the data catalog: Maintain and expand the OpenMetadata catalog to ensure organizational data assets remain discoverable, documented, and trusted. Optimize local development: Create reproducible local and development environments to allow team members to work without friction. Support analytics products: Contribute infrastructure, CI/CD, and production readiness support for conversational analytics products. Must-have required skills and experience Education & Experience: University degree/college diploma in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years in software engineering, including at least 2 years focused on data infrastructure or data platforms. Data Warehousing: Proven hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses, specifically Snowflake. Infrastructure as Code: Experience using Terraform to manage and provision cloud infrastructure. Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, with Python experience also being valuable. Data Pipeline Ingestion: Experience with ingestion tools such as Fivetran or Airbyte. Engineering Rigor: Strong fundamentals in version control discipline, code reviews, reproducible builds, and security/compliance standards. Nice-to-have skills Advanced Snowflake administration (RBAC, resource monitors, and query performance tuning). Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with data catalog platforms such as OpenMetadata, DataHub, or Atlan. Hands-on experience with data observability tooling. Other important info (Logistics & Compensation) Location/Work Mode: Fully remote (Remote-first within Canada). Employment Type: Full-time. Compensation: $104,000 - $145,000 CAD base salary, plus a 10% annual discretionary bonus and performance incentives.

Requirements

Requires a degree or diploma in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience, and at least five years of software engineering experience, including two years focused on data infrastructure or platforms. Candidates need hands-on Snowflake and Terraform experience, strong TypeScript or JavaScript skills, and familiarity with data ingestion tools and rigorous engineering practices.
