Position Description A temporary part time (0.8) Teacher is required by Schoo District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective immediately. A temporary part time (0.6) Primary Teacher (med loa) effective immediately until the return of the incumbent not beyond June 30, 2027 as well as a (0.1) Special Education Resource Teacher & (0.1) Prep/Gym Teacher effective immediately until June 30, 2027. The assignments will be at C.M. Finch Elementary School. CM Finch is a K-6 school located in the northwest quadrant of Fort St John. The school is a vibrant and caring place. There is a strong sense of community among the families and staff. The level of community involvement, mentoring between staff and students, as well as strong leadership in all aspects of our school contributes to our positive school climate. Qualifications And Experience Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for) Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary level Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity Experience working with children with special needs Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individual plans (IEPs,LSPs,BIPs,AIPs) for students with academic, social and emotional learning difficulties. Interested Applicants Are Required To Supply Three (3) references Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) Compensation $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas. $3,500 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE) Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $72,720 - $118,770 Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Requirements
Applicants must hold or be eligible for a valid British Columbia Ministry of Education teaching certificate and demonstrate the ability to teach the identified elementary subjects. The role calls for knowledge of the BC Curriculum, inclusive and differentiated teaching, social-emotional learning, student assessment and classroom management, and experience supporting students with special needs and developing individual plans.
