Assists with preparation of food for special functions (e.g. catering, theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standards; Prepare meals according to established recipes, menus, and therapeutic dietary requirements while maintaining quality and presentation standards. Reports any recipe shortages, discrepancies or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely manner; Clean and sanitize cooking station daily; maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards; responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food; Follows disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc; About You In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring: Enjoys preparing high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment Takes pride in food safety, consistency, and presentation Works well independently and as part of a team Has previous cooking experience (1+ year preferred) A high-school diploma or a GED; Current food handlers’ certificate (preferred); Ability to provide a clear criminal record check upon hire; A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.

Requirements
Previous cooking experience of one year or more is preferred, along with a high-school diploma or GED; a current food handlers’ certificate is preferred. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast-paced kitchen, value food safety and presentation, work independently and collaboratively, and be able to provide a clear criminal record check upon hire.
