Field Service Specialist About The Role We are seeking an experienced Field Service Specialist to perform electrical and mechanical field services on rotating equipment throughout Western Canada. This is a hands-on role for a technically skilled professional with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. The successful candidate will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and test motors, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment while providing professional service to customers. The role requires someone who can work independently in the field, solve problems under time constraints, communicate effectively with customers, and lead complex equipment overhaul projects when required. Key Responsibilities Perform visual inspections of mechanical and electrical systems and rotating equipment. Service, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot motors, generators, and related electro-mechanical equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and provide customers with recommendations to improve equipment reliability. Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair solutions. Perform **high-voltage (HV) and mechanical testing** on electro-mechanical equipment. Lead and execute complex large-motor overhaul projects, coordinating work activities and personnel as required. Complete accurate service reports and documentation for all work performed. Communicate technical issues, findings, and recommended solutions clearly to customers and internal teams. Maintain company service vehicle inventory, tools, equipment, and required safety items. Travel throughout Western Canada to customer sites and respond to service and emergency requirements. Ensure all work complies with applicable provincial and federal safety regulations, codes, standards, and company procedures. Develop and apply condition-monitoring tools and techniques to support equipment reliability. Maintain a professional company image when interacting with customers, employees, and other stakeholders. Work overtime, including evenings and weekends, and respond to emergency service requirements when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a field service, electrical/mechanical, rotating equipment, or related role. Registered Electric Motor Systems Technician (EMST) Apprentice, Journeyperson/Red Seal Electric Motor Systems Technician, or equivalent industry experience. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Experience troubleshooting motors, generators, and electro-mechanical equipment. Experience with high-voltage testing and mechanical testing is preferred. Valid driver's license with a safe driving record. Ability to work independently in a field-based environment. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and accountability. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prepare accurate service reports and technical documentation. Experience with estimating is an asset. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness and ability to travel throughout Western Canada. Flexible to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs as required.
