We’re searching for a Senior Financial Accountant, Acquisition Accounting. Are you searching for new possibilities? This is a hybrid role based out of our Surrey, BC office, however we are open to remote employees across Canada. At Westland, we're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant, Acquisition Accounting to join our Accounting Integrations team. In this role, you'll help guide newly acquired businesses through the accounting integration process, from ensuring GAAP-compliant financial reporting and supporting working capital analysis to preparing acquisitions for system migration and winding up legacy entities. Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $76,000 to $95,000 based on a 35 hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity. As Senior Financial Accountant, Acquisition Accounting, you'll be a key partner in guiding acquired businesses through their accounting integration journey. You'll work closely with acquisition teams, former owners, Operations, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to establish strong accounting practices, meet critical reporting timelines, and prepare the business for its next stage with Westland. You'll also provide guidance to members of the Accounting Integrations team, balancing technical accounting requirements with the people and relationship side of integration. You have insurance industry experience and a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and the unique considerations of an insurance brokerage environment. You’re analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to review financial information, identify anomalies, and follow issues through to resolution. You’re an exceptional communicator who builds strong relationships and works effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You’re comfortable providing guidance, mentorship, and direction to others while working collaboratively as part of a broader team. You’re adaptable, organized, and able to balance competing priorities and tight deadlines while navigating change and ambiguity. Once here, you'll: Lead key acquisition accounting and integration activities, helping acquired businesses transition to Westland’s accounting policies, processes, and reporting expectations. Guide accounting staff through month-end activities, including production reporting, bank reconciliations, aged AR, trial balances, client receipts, carrier payments, payroll, and applicable tax filings. Review and validate financial reporting, including trial balances, production reports, aged AR, and bank reconciliations, following up on anomalies and ensuring accurate uploads to Business Central. Support key acquisition activities including the Working Capital Adjustment (WCA) and Purchase Price Allocation (PPA), while ensuring working capital balances are appropriately cleared. Coordinate the transition of accounting activities to centralized teams and prepare acquisitions for Acturis migration or transition to legal entity accounting, including the wind-up of legacy entities. Partner with stakeholders, provide mentorship to the Accounting Integrations team, and maintain integration dashboards and key metrics to keep activities, risks, and outstanding items on track. #LI-AW1 #LI-Hybrid Want to get to know each other better?
