As Research Events & Administration Coordinator in the OVPRI, you'll help bring TMU's research community and its remarkable work into the spotlight. From showcasing innovative discoveries to creating opportunities for researchers to connect with colleagues, partners, and the broader community, you'll help create the experiences that demonstrate the impact and breadth of research taking place across the university. In this dynamic role, you'll coordinate internal and external research events that strengthen TMU's reputation as a destination for innovation, discovery, and research excellence. You'll help bring events to life from the initial planning stages through to the final follow-up—coordinating logistics, preparing materials, supporting communications, overseeing event details, and ensuring every element comes together seamlessly, whether the experience is in person or virtual. You'll also provide essential administrative support to research communications and the day-to-day operations of the team, helping ensure that ideas move from planning to execution efficiently and effectively. Your organization, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate what is needed will help researchers, leaders, partners, and guests have an engaging and memorable experience. Qualifications To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications: Completion of a post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as Business Communication, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, preferably in marketing/branded communications, hospitality or event management with additional capacity of providing administrative support. Experience in assessing venues; maintaining bookings and invitations; budget planning and coordinating staff, volunteers, and vendors. Experience working in team environments within a fast-paced academic setting. Excellent oral and written communications skills to prepare and support the creation of promotional materials and presentations Demonstrated knowledge of office software (MS Office, Google Workspace) Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
