The Opportunity We are seeking a Technologist, Mineral Processing to join our Research & Innovation team at Mississauga, Ontario. This is a permanent position reporting to the Senior Manager, Mineral Processing. The Technologist plays a key role in supporting mineral processing research, development, and testing activities across laboratory, mini-plant, and plant environments. The successful candidate will contribute to the execution of experimental programs, preparation and characterization of mineral samples, operation and maintenance of testing equipment, and collection of high-quality technical data to support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with engineers, metallurgists, mineralogists, specialists, and operations teams, the Technologist will help advance mineral processing technologies and support the development of sustainable, efficient processing solutions for Vale Base Metals. About You You are a safety-focused and hands-on technical professional who enjoys working in a laboratory and industrial environment. You have a strong interest in mineral processing and research, possess excellent attention to detail, and are committed to generating accurate and reliable results. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are comfortable supporting multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence. In this role, you will: Demonstrate a strong commitment to Vale's safety standards, policies, and procedures while promoting a culture of safety excellence. Prepare, set up, and execute laboratory and mini-plant test programs in accordance with established procedures and project objectives. Support the design and assembly of experimental setups and pilot-scale testing systems. Prepare and characterize ore samples through crushing, grinding, screening, and other sample preparation methods. Conduct particle size analysis and other laboratory measurements required to support metallurgical investigations. Prepare polished mounts and samples for mineralogical analysis and characterization. Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory and pilot plant equipment. Collect, validate, record, and communicate test results while maintaining accurate technical documentation. Ensure laboratory housekeeping standards are maintained and workspaces remain safe, organized, and compliant. Source, order, and maintain inventories of laboratory supplies, consumables, and equipment. Provide technical support for plant trials and on-site operational testwork when required. Collaborate with engineers, metallurgists, mineralogists, and research teams to support innovation, continuous improvement, and technology development initiatives. Experience Experience in laboratory, mineral processing, metallurgical, mining, or related industrial environments is considered an asset. Experience with sample preparation, laboratory testing, pilot plant operations, or process development activities is preferred. Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment is advantageous. Familiarity with data collection, reporting, and technical documentation practices is beneficial. Education College Diploma in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, Chemical Technology, Mining Technology, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered. Skills & Competencies Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship. Knowledge of mineral processing and metallurgical testing techniques. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Ability to follow established procedures and maintain high-quality standards. Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data recording systems.
