Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to join a leading commercial insurance organization in Vancouver, BC on a full-time basis. This individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex commercial accounts while driving new business growth across British Columbia. The role combines technical underwriting expertise with strong market-facing business development responsibilities, making it ideal for a relationship-driven underwriter who enjoys being actively engaged with brokers and clients. The successful candidate will manage an existing portfolio in addition to servicing and renewing existing business. This individual will be expected to generate approximately $1M in annual new business production through strategic broker partnerships and market development activities. This is a highly visible role with a roughly 50/50 split between underwriting and market-facing activities. The successful candidate will regularly meet with brokers and clients, attend industry events, participate in networking opportunities, and represent the organization throughout the BC market. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, collaborative, and comfortable balancing portfolio management with business development. They should enjoy building relationships, identifying opportunities, and developing creative underwriting solutions for complex commercial risks. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a more boutique environment where underwriters have broad exposure across industries, products, and regions while playing a direct role in profitable growth initiatives. Required Skills 7+ years of experience in commercial insurance with experience as an Underwriter or Broker Experience underwriting multinational or globally operating organizations, strong relationships with regional and national commercial insurance brokers Demonstrated new business production success and ability to discuss annual premium growth achievements Experience underwriting complex risks within industries such as Construction & Contracting, Manufacturing, Wholesale, Warehousing, or Transportation Experience managing accounts ranging from approximately $25K to $1M+ in premium As part of our recruitment process, AI-assisted tools may be used to support candidate screening, resume review, interview note-taking, and application evaluation.
