Lead / Principal Enterprise Architect Location: Toronto, ON (3 days per week onsite) Compensation: $200,000 base salary We are seeking an accomplished Lead / Principal Enterprise Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping and executing a long-term technology strategy for a leading global organization. This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for defining enterprise architecture standards, driving innovation, and ensuring technology investments align with business objectives both today and for the future. The successful candidate will lead the design and governance of enterprise-wide technology architectures, including the integration of AI-driven capabilities and intelligent automation. This is an opportunity to influence executive-level decision-making, establish technology roadmaps, and help modernize a complex global environment. Key Responsibilities Partner with business and technology leaders to understand strategic priorities, operational challenges, and evolving customer needs. Develop and maintain a 5-8 year Enterprise Architecture roadmap that supports scalability, agility, security, and business growth. Define enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, and technology governance frameworks. Lead the development of AI architecture principles, guardrails, and adoption strategies that promote secure, scalable, and responsible use of AI technologies. Ensure alignment across Solution, Platform, Data, Security, and Infrastructure Architecture teams. Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential business value and applicability. Incorporate privacy, security, accessibility, compliance, and risk management requirements into architecture frameworks. Maintain architecture documentation, standards, principles, and governance processes. Present architecture strategies and recommendations to executive leadership and governance committees. Build strong partnerships with technology vendors and influence product direction where appropriate. Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in enterprise architecture and digital transformation. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience as an Enterprise Architect or in a similar strategic architecture leadership role. 10+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Platform Architecture, or related technical leadership positions. 3-5 years of hands-on software development or engineering experience. Experience presenting technology strategies and recommendations to executive leadership teams. Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar methodologies. Deep knowledge of enterprise applications, data platforms, cloud technologies, infrastructure, security, and integration architectures. Experience with AI/ML architecture, AI governance, data requirements, and enterprise-scale implementations. Strong understanding of modern software development practices, cloud platforms, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and integration technologies. Experience balancing modernization initiatives with legacy technology environments. Preferred Attributes Strategic thinker with strong business acumen. Requirements
Requires a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 5+ years in enterprise architecture, 10+ years in solution, platform, or related technical leadership, and 3–5 years of hands-on software development or engineering. Candidates should have executive presentation experience and strong knowledge of architecture frameworks, cloud and enterprise technologies, AI/ML architecture and governance, security, integration, and modernization of legacy environments.
