**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience: **
**Please Note **: As this is an itinerant position, the successful applicant must have a car and a valid BC driver's license.

Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.

Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- a Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology from a recognized university
- must be eligible for membership in the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC
- demonstrated ability to support students with speech and language needs by:
- coordinating their Speech-Language Services with the teams in their assigned schools
- identifying, assessing, and evaluating those children with possible significant communicative impairments
- planning, developing, providing, or directing appropriate and effective intervention programs (individually, in the classroom or in small groups as appropriate)
- demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with School Based Teams, including parents, School District personnel and outside agencies and professionals regarding the student's needs in the classroom and other school and home environments
- demonstrated ability to consult with teachers, parents, and other school personnel within the framework of an inter-disciplinary team
- experience and understanding of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- proven interpersonal skills in order to develop excellent working relationships with school staff and parents
- demonstrated ability to develop and present in-service to school district personnel and parents
- demonstrated ability to establish, with School Based Teams, a method of service delivery that includes caseload selection and scheduling, record keeping, evaluating programs, developing instructional materials, and scheduling and supervising speech-language assistants
- demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing for information and clarity
- experience working in an educational setting and with students with diverse needs and disabilities preferred
