Our operations team is expanding and looking to add a Molding Technician. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate who is interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector. The Molding Technician – Metal Stamping is responsible for the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of stamping dies, tooling, and related production equipment. This role supports high-volume metal stamping operations by ensuring dies and tooling are operating safely, efficiently, and within quality specifications. The Technician will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production output. * Set up, install, adjust, and remove stamping dies, molds, fixtures, and related tooling for production runs. * Perform die tryouts, adjustments, and troubleshooting to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements. * Inspect stamping dies and tooling for wear, damage, misalignment, or other conditions that may affect production. * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on stamping dies, including cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, repair, and replacement of components. * Troubleshoot issues related to stamping dies, including burrs, cracking, dimensional variation, material feeding issues, part deformation, and inconsistent forming. * Make die adjustments and minor repairs to maintain production quality and minimize downtime. * Assist with die modifications, improvements, and tooling changes in coordination with Engineering. * Perform die changes and ensure proper alignment, clamping, and setup before production begins. * Verify tooling and equipment settings against established setup sheets, work instructions, and engineering specifications. * Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify tooling and part dimensions. * Monitor tooling performance and identify opportunities to improve die life, cycle time, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). * Maintain accurate records of die maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and tooling issues. * Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring tooling and production problems. * Work with Maintenance and Production teams to reduce equipment downtime and improve production efficiency. * Maintain proper housekeeping and organization of tooling, dies, spare components, and work areas. * Follow all company policies, safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations. * Perform other duties as assigned. TO BE A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE, YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING: * High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or trade certification in Tool & Die, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is an asset. * 2–5 years of experience working with metal stamping dies, tooling, presses, or similar manufacturing equipment. * Strong understanding of progressive dies, transfer dies, stamping processes, and metal forming principles. * Experience with die setup, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, tooling drawings, and technical specifications. * Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection is an asset. * Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges. * Basic machining, grinding, fitting, and fabrication skills are an asset. * Ability to identify tooling-related quality issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. * Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. KEY TO BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE: * Experience in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing or high-volume metal stamping. * Experience with progressive stamping dies and automated press lines. * Experience troubleshooting tooling issues in a high-volume production environment. * Experience with CNC, EDM, surface grinding, milling, or conventional machining. * Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement practices. * Experience working with automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday. * Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and tooling as required. * Ability to work around stamping presses, production machinery, noise, and manufacturing equipment. * Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and other tooling-related equipment. * Must be able to follow all required PPE and workplace safety requirements.
