Job details

The short version Pophaus is a Toronto creative and organic social agency that works only with CPG food, beverage, wellness and supplement brands. We run our own studio, we shoot a lot, and our whole job is getting brands the double tap and keeping people hooked past the scroll. We want one person who knows every client by heart, lives in the studio, and makes a can of sparkling water look like the main character. That is this job. You would be our first full time photographer, and the studio would be yours to run. What you will actually do Shoot product, food, beverage and lifestyle photography in our Toronto studio, plus the occasional kitchen, grocery aisle or location day Own the whole flow: plan the light, build the set, shoot, cull, colour, retouch, deliver Build sets with props, surfaces and backdrops. Pour, drizzle, splash, crumble, garnish. If it makes a chip look crunchier, do it Shoot stills that work as social posts, and grab stop motion and short clips when the concept calls for it Keep every client consistent from shoot to shoot: same lighting logic, same colour, same feel, so their feed looks like one brand and not five photographers Plan shoot days with our Art Director and designers, from shot list and moodboard to final handoff Keep the studio ready to go: gear, lighting, surfaces, backups, and a folder structure nobody has to guess at Run the file pipeline so designers can pull finished assets without chasing anyone Be in the room when clients and founders visit a shoot, and make them glad they came Who we are looking for 3+ years shooting product or food photography, studio, agency or brand side, with a portfolio that proves it You can light a bowl of oatmeal and a bottle of hot sauce and make both look like the hero Fluent in Capture One or Lightroom, plus Photoshop. Retouching is part of the job, not someone else's You get social. You know what stops a thumb on Instagram and TikTok, what a 4:5 crop needs, and why a Story frame and a grid post are not the same picture You move fast without getting sloppy. Clients have launch dates and we ship every week You can own a studio day end to end, with a small crew or solo Kind, curious, easy to be around. Our clients come to shoots. Their founders come to shoots. You will be the face in the room Based in Toronto and happy to be in the studio most days. This is not a remote role, the camera lives here Bonus points Video and motion chops: stop motion, cinemagraphs, short clips on a mirrorless You have shot for CPG brands before, especially grocery or DTC food and beverage Food prep instincts, or a food stylist you trust on speed dial Strong opinions about props and where to find the good ones in Toronto You have looked at our Instagram and already have a shot in mind you would do differently The details Full time, permanent Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 CAD per year, depending on experience. The portfolio counts for more than the years Comprehensive health benefits package Location: Pophaus studio, Toronto, in person Reports to: our Art Director Team: you would work daily with our Art Director, designers and account team, and with the founders of the brands we shoot for Start date: as soon as we find the right person How to apply Apply here on LinkedIn with a link to your portfolio. A website or an Instagram grid both work. Skip the cover letter. Instead, tell us about one product or food photo you shot that you are proud of, and why it worked. Two or three sentences is plenty. We read every one.
