Superintendent (Heavy Civil Construction) Location: GTA, Ontario Compensation: $130,000-$150,000 (based on experience) Reference # 16818011 The Opportunity We have partnered with one of the GTA's premier general contractors to add a Site Superintendent to their growing team. You will take ownership of day-to-day field operations, lead field teams, and work with Project Managers on a diverse range of complex civil infrastructure projects while also building your leadership and project delivery experience. What You'll Be Responsible For Take ownership of daily site operations from mobilization through project completion. Lead and coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, inspections and site activities. Work closely with Project Managers, consultants, inspectors, contract administrators and other stakeholders to keep projects on track. Review drawings, specifications and schedules and translate project requirements into clear direction for Foremen and field crews. Monitor production, progress, quality and schedule performance. Identify potential issues early and take action to keep work progressing. Coordinate inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed quickly and properly. Track labour, equipment rentals, materials and production. Identify and document additional or out-of-scope work and communicate changes to the Project Manager. Maintain accurate daily records and project documentation. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees and subcontractors are working in accordance with project and regulatory requirements. Participate in pre-construction, progress and coordination meetings. Maintain productive relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and other project stakeholders. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help improve how projects are delivered. What You Bring 7–10+ years of experience as a Civil Construction Superintendent or in a comparable field leadership role. Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is an asset. P.ENG certification is preferred. Strong background in heavy civil construction and field operations. Direct experience withearthworks and roadworks; bridge experience is an asset. Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, scheduling, cost control, safety, and quality requirements. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Demonstrated ability to lead crews, subcontractors, and multiple site activities simultaneously. Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills. Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and project scheduling software. Requires 7–10+ years of experience as a civil construction superintendent or in a comparable field leadership role, with a strong background in heavy civil construction and direct earthworks and roadworks experience. Post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline is an asset, and P.Eng certification is preferred; candidates should also have strong leadership, communication, construction planning, and documentation skills.
