Injection Moulding Specialist / SME Location: Chatham-Kent, ON | Full-Time | On-Site We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer / Injection Moulding Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a strong background in Injection Moulding. This is a global subject matter expert role responsible for owning injection moulding technology, mould design standards, process standards, equipment strategy, capital purchases, and technical governance across multiple plants. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in injection moulding equipment, materials, tooling, and processes, with a strong ability to develop standards, optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical direction across manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities Serve as the global Injection Moulding SME, providing technical leadership across multiple manufacturing plants. Own and establish injection moulding technology and process standards. Develop and maintain mould design standards and best practices. Define equipment strategies, technology requirements, and technical specifications for injection moulding operations. Lead the selection, evaluation, purchase, installation, and commissioning of injection moulding equipment and related capital. Optimize injection moulding processes to improve quality, cycle time, productivity, scrap, and OEE. Troubleshoot complex issues related to machines, materials, moulds, process parameters, and moulding defects. Provide technical direction on resins, materials, additives, processing conditions, and material performance. Support new product launches, tooling trials, process validation, and production start-ups. Establish standardized process parameters, setup procedures, work instructions, and technical specifications. Partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production, Tooling, and Suppliers to resolve technical challenges. Identify opportunities for automation, technology improvements, cost reduction, and process optimization. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to plant engineering and manufacturing teams. Support continuous improvement and ensure consistent injection moulding practices across multiple facilities. Qualifications 5+ years of strong Injection Moulding / Plastics Manufacturing experience. Significant hands-on knowledge of injection moulding equipment, materials, tooling, and processes. Strong understanding of machine setup, process parameters, troubleshooting, and optimization. Experience with mould design, tooling, mould trials, and process development. Experience selecting and implementing injection moulding equipment and related capital. Strong understanding of common thermoplastic materials and their processing characteristics. Experience in a high-volume automotive / Tier 1 manufacturing environment is preferred. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, OEE, and root-cause analysis. Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills. Ability to influence and provide technical direction across multiple plants. Experience with mould design and trials, capital equipment implementation, and Lean or continuous improvement is expected; automotive Tier 1 experience is preferred.
