Your New Role As a Lead Geotechnical Engineer, you will join a growing technical team responsible for the safe operation, management, and long-term performance of a large and complex tailings storage facility. Working closely with operations, projects, consultants, and technical specialists, you will provide geotechnical expertise that supports dam safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, and future facility development. Conduct dam safety inspections, field assessments, and performance evaluations of tailings facilities and associated infrastructure. Analyse monitoring and instrumentation data to assess stability, seepage, deformation, and overall facility performance. Provide technical review and oversight of geotechnical studies, investigations, designs, and rehabilitation projects completed by external consultants. Support dam safety governance programs, risk assessments, emergency preparedness initiatives, and regulatory compliance activities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to develop practical engineering solutions and establish technical direction for major projects. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of internal geotechnical capability within the organization. What You'll Need to Succeed Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, Geotechnical, or related Engineering discipline with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation. Significant geotechnical engineering experience within mining, tailings management, dam engineering, or related heavy industry environments. Strong technical knowledge of geotechnical analysis, dam stability, instrumentation monitoring, ground improvement methods, and risk management. Experience reviewing or supporting the design, construction, operation, or management of tailings facilities, water retaining structures, or large earthworks projects. Working knowledge of industry standards and governance frameworks relating to tailings and dam safety, including MAC TSM and Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM). Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, projects, consultants, and regulatory stakeholders.
